Trump says Iran war could be over soon

Donald Trump said on Monday, March 9, that the ongoing war involving Iran could come to an end soon, expressing confidence that the conflict would not continue for much longer. He made the statement during a press briefing while discussing the worsening military situation in the Middle East.

The conflict began on February 28 when Trump announced the start of what he described as “major combat operations” against Iran. The campaign involved large-scale joint airstrikes by the United States and Israel, targeting Iranian military bases, government buildings, and key strategic infrastructure.

Iranian state television later reported that the country’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed in Tehran during the first wave of attacks. His death marked a significant turning point in the conflict. On Sunday, Iranian officials announced that his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, would assume the position of supreme leader. The decision has sparked debate both inside Iran and internationally because Mojtaba had never previously held an elected government role.

Despite Trump’s claim that the war may end soon, fighting across the region continues to escalate. Iran has launched multiple waves of missiles and drones in retaliation, targeting Israel, U.S. military bases in the region, and several Gulf countries allied with Washington.

Meanwhile, Israel has widened its military operations beyond Iran. The Israeli military has also intensified strikes against positions held by Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Iran-backed militia that has long been involved in cross-border tensions with Israel.

The growing violence has heightened global fears of a broader regional war, as analysts warn that ongoing strikes and counterattacks could pull more countries into the conflict if diplomatic efforts fail to reduce tensions.
