Gunmen have taken the life of the traditional ruler, HRH Eze Joe Ochulor, of Otulu community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. The monarch was abducted on Saturday morning, November 25, 2023, by unidentified assailants. An anonymous source revealed to The Punch on Sunday that the lifeless body of the king was discovered on the roadside in Mbutu community, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, on the same Saturday night.
The source expressed the prevailing fear in the community, stating, “There is fear everywhere. Villagers are afraid because the traditional ruler was taken from his home on Saturday morning, only for his lifeless body to be found on the same Saturday. This is horrifying.”
Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the police in the state, confirmed the monarch’s murder and assured the public that the command is actively pursuing the suspects. Okoye stated that the State Commissioner of Police has initiated a manhunt for the killers, emphasizing, “We are on the trail of the suspects and doing everything possible to close in on them and bring them to book.” He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, assuring that the police are determined to address the situation.
