During his screening before the Senate on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Olawale Edun, a ministerial nominee and potential candidate for the Minister of Finance, confidently asserted that borrowing is not a detrimental practice as long as there is sufficient revenue to service it.

Edun, who previously served as Commissioner of Finance under Bola Tinubu’s administration in Lagos between 1999 and 2007, believes that the achievements and successes he accomplished in Lagos are replicable at the federal level. In response to questions about how he would rejuvenate Nigeria’s economy if appointed as Minister of Finance by President Bola Tinubu, Edun expressed his conviction that the strategies he implemented during his tenure as Commissioner of Finance in Lagos could be effectively applied to the national level.
