WHO Advises Against Washing Raw Meat

The World Health Organization (WHO) has ignited a debate after advising people not to wash raw meat.

On Facebook, WHO posted: “Wash fruits and vegetables with clean water. Do not wash raw meat, as this can spread harmful microorganisms to hands, surfaces, utensils, or other food.”

The advice led to a lively discussion in the comments. Some agreed that raw meats like beef, chicken, and turkey should not be washed, citing concerns over the spread of bacteria. Others, however, argued that meat should be washed before cooking. Many commenters expressed confusion, wondering how meat could be cooked without removing dirt first.
