Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is committed to reconciling with aggrieved members following its National Convention slated for March 29 and 30.
Wike downplayed legal challenges from a group led by Tanimu Turaki, stressing that the party is broad enough to accommodate differing interests.
He noted that disagreements are inevitable in any large organisation, adding that the PDP would engage dissatisfied members to address their concerns in the overall interest of the party.
Speaking after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, the convention venue, Wike said party leaders were prepared to foster unity and inclusiveness.
He was joined by key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee, Okezie Ikpeazu; Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mao Ohuabunwa; and Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee, Mohammed Abdulrahman.
Wike also revealed that the party has finalised its zoning arrangement to ensure a smooth transition of leadership. According to him, the presidency has been zoned to the South, while the national chairmanship has been allocated to the North.
He expressed confidence that the consensus arrangement would ease the process and present a united front, noting that party members have aligned on the direction ahead without internal divisions.
