An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Femi James, at a correctional facility for the alleged rape of three sisters and another victim.
James, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a charge of rape. However, the court did not take his plea due to lack of jurisdiction.
Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Adebola Adeola, directed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice. The case was adjourned to June 19 for mention.
According to the prosecution, led by Sgt. Kehinde Olarotimi, the alleged offences occurred between 2017 and 2025 in the Akobo area of Ibadan. The defendant is accused of having unlawful carnal knowledge of the victims without their consent.
The offence, the prosecutor noted, is in violation of Section 358 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
