Tension is high in Taraba State as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) await the Supreme Court’s judgement on the party’s gubernatorial candidate.
The judgement is expected to be delivered on Friday, a few days after the court nullified the governorship primary election conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
One of the PDP’s governorship aspirants, Professor Jerome Nyameh, approached the apex court after the Appeal Court voided his suit against the PDP’s candidate, Kefas Agbu, for not purchasing the expression of interest and nomination forms.
Nyameh’s counsel argued that Agbu, who was the party’s State chairman, presided over the screening of aspirants. Tension is palpable in the camps of both Agbu and Nyameh, but supporters of both sides have expressed their willingness to accept the outcome of the judgement in good faith.
