An as-yet-unidentified young man lost his life in a fatal assault reportedly carried out by suspected cult members in Rumuodomaya, situated in the Obio-Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State. The tragic incident took place at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, along Eligbolo Road.
According to a local resident, the community was startled by the sounds of voices and people rushing in the early morning hours. Suddenly, a group of men believed to be cultists began assaulting a man. The witness stated, “The cultists were mercilessly attacking the man, and he pleaded for mercy throughout that early morning until his cries fell silent.”
The witness went on to mention that the police arrived at the scene later and subsequently made multiple arrests.
Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the community awoke to the unfortunate sight of the deceased man’s lifeless body.
