ISWAP mutilates hands of Borno fishermen

Members of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) have amputated the hands of two Borno fishermen for allegedly failing to pay taxes. The incident occurred in Marte Local Government Area, where the fishermen, part of a larger group under the control of ISWAP, faced repercussions for not meeting their financial obligations to the militant group. The terrorists confiscated eight cartons of fish from the fishermen, leaving two behind due to space constraints. When the fishermen reclaimed the abandoned cartons, they were arrested on charges of theft. Subsequently, the leader of the militant group ordered the amputation of the men’s hands, citing Sharia law as justification for the brutal punishment.
