Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has expressed confidence that the team will remain formidable even in the absence of Kylian Mbappé.
Following Mbappé’s confirmation of his departure from the Ligue 1 champions this summer, Enrique addressed reporters on Saturday, May 11, stating his understanding of the star forward’s decision after seven years with the club.
While acknowledging Mbappé’s significant contributions to PSG, Enrique dismissed any sense of despair, emphasizing the team’s unwavering focus and determination to excel next season despite the departure of their all-time leading scorer.
“We have been aware of this possibility for a while now, as has everyone else. However, it does not alter the overall outlook. All decisions I have made were based on what I deemed best for the team,” Enrique affirmed.
He expressed optimism about PSG’s prospects, highlighting their ongoing pursuit of the Coupe de France as a primary objective. “There is still the Coupe de France to contend for, which remains our goal. I firmly believe that the players will emerge stronger next season,” he asserted.
While bidding farewell to Mbappé, Enrique commended the PSG legend for his outstanding contributions both on and off the field throughout his tenure with the club. “I can only speak highly of Kylian Mbappé as both a footballer and an individual. I respect his decision. Over the past seven years, he has been a club icon, giving his all to PSG, just as the club has supported him in return. I wish him every success in the future,” Enrique expressed.
Reflecting on Mbappé’s leadership qualities and positive influence within the team, Enrique concluded, “I am proud to have had him in our ranks. He has been instrumental to our success, displaying leadership with a smile on his face.”
