Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara has suspended Otonye Briggs, the Local Government Committee Chairman of Akuku-Toru, with immediate effect.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 17, in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.
In the directive, Governor Fubara appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the caretaker committee chairman of the council, ordering him to take over immediately.
Briggs has been instructed to hand over all council property in his possession to the newly appointed chairman. The reason for the suspension was not disclosed in the statement.
