
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the start of Ramadan fasting.
In a broadcast on Friday, February 28, the Sultan, also the president of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), announced that Ramadan fasting will begin on Saturday for Muslims across the country.
“We received confirmation from Muslim leaders nationwide, and we accept the sighting of the moon,” the Sultan stated.
Abubakar urged the entire Muslim community in the country to begin their Ramadan fast on Saturday, in line with the teachings of Islam.
