The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning to Nigerians about the circulation of counterfeit 12g sachets of Cowbell “Our Milk” in the country.

In a statement released today, August 22, the agency explained that Promasidor, the Marketing Authorisation Holder and manufacturer of Cowbell, discontinued the production of Cowbell “Our Milk” in September 2023. The product was subsequently replaced with Cowbell “Our Creamy Goodness.”

NAFDAC noted that the counterfeit sachets currently circulating imitate the discontinued “Our Milk” packaging and are neither manufactured nor distributed by Promasidor. These fake products also feature unauthorized use of the brand name, NAFDAC registration number, and packaging design.

Consumers are advised to be cautious and avoid purchasing these counterfeit items.

NAFDAC has warned that consuming counterfeit milk products poses serious health risks, including exposure to toxic chemicals, unapproved additives, and diluted ingredients. Such consumption can lead to foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, organ damage, and in extreme cases, death. Vulnerable groups include infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

  • Product Name: Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet

  • Purported Manufacturer: Promasidor Nigeria Ltd
