Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a new milestone as the African artist with the highest number of entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart, overtaking fellow Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems.

Until this week, Burna Boy and Tems were tied with eight entries each on the prestigious U.S. chart.

Burna Boy secured his ninth entry through a collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira on the official FIFA World Cup song titled “Dai Dai.” The track debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving him sole ownership of the record for the most entries by any African artist.

The song reportedly gained significant global traction following a joint performance by Burna Boy and Shakira at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico.

With the new record, Tems now holds the second-highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries among African artists.

The “Last Last” hitmaker has also extended another historic streak, becoming the first African artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years.

His chart run includes “Loved By You” (2021), “Last Last” (2022), “Sitting On Top of the World” and “Talibans II” (2023), “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” (2024), “WGFT” (2025), and both “Only You” and “Dai Dai” (2026).

In addition, Burna Boy recently achieved a new streaming peak, surpassing 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
