
Six students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, along with a visitor, were abducted on Wednesday night after gunmen attacked a students’ lodge in Gudi, located in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel. He said the armed assailants invaded the off-campus residence and took the victims to an unknown destination.
According to the police, the attack occurred around 9:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026, at Anguwar Ninzo on the outskirts of Gudi town.
The six abducted students are reportedly from the Faculty of Engineering at the university’s Gudi Campus, while the seventh victim was said to have been visiting one of the students at the time of the attack.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, visited the scene to assess the situation and reassured students, residents, and the university community that efforts were underway to secure the victims’ release.
The police added that a joint security operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), vigilante groups, and other tactical units has been launched to track down the kidnappers and rescue the abducted victims safely.
