Troops of the 149 Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a 15-year-old suspected terrorist in Gubio town, Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Umar Zacharria, was apprehended during a joint security operation carried out by military personnel and CJTF operatives.
Security analyst Zagazola Makam, who disclosed the development on May 22, 2026, said preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager is from Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to the report, the suspect allegedly confessed to being part of a terrorist group responsible for attacks and harassment of motorists along the Kareto axis.
Sources further disclosed that the suspect remains in military custody as investigations continue.
