Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has said it would be an “evil” act for voters in the state to oppose President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, describing the contest as a “family affair.”

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Oborevwori argued that Tinubu is the only likely presidential candidate with a direct connection to Delta State through First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who is of Itsekiri heritage.

According to the governor, the president’s relationship with the state makes him a natural choice for many Delta voters.

“Among the candidates that emerged, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one that has an affiliation to Delta State. The man is an in-law here, and it would be evil to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair,” Oborevwori said.

He added that many residents of the South-South region, particularly in Delta State, now view Tinubu as one of their own.

“In the South-South, the people in Delta are saying this is their own. They were deceived before. Now they can’t. The First Lady is holding the state strong, and no Itsekiri person will vote against Tinubu. No Urhobo man will because their son is the governor,” he said.
