A Niger State High Court has sentenced 27-year-old Hussaini Suleiman to seven years in prison for raping an eight-year-old girl at his residence behind the Prison Quarters in Minna.

The case was referred to the Niger State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) by the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on April 16, 2026, following a report of the sexual assault of the minor.
According to NAPTIP, the convict admitted committing the offence and was subsequently arraigned before Court 8 of the Niger State High Court in Minna on September 10, 2026.
After the charge was read to him, Suleiman pleaded guilty to the offence.
