An operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Bauchi State has reportedly been stabbed to death by an unidentified person while carrying out official duties.
The operative was allegedly stabbed in the stomach on Tuesday, September 8, while working alongside other NDLEA personnel at Anguwan Zango, Tilden Fulani, in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
According to residents, the NDLEA team had raided the area, reportedly known for the use of illicit drugs, and arrested one of the suspected drug users.
As the operatives attempted to take the suspect away, other individuals allegedly resisted the arrest in an attempt to free him. During the confrontation, one of the suspects reportedly used a sharp object to stab the NDLEA operative in the stomach.
The assailants reportedly fled the scene after the attack, while the injured operative was attended to by his colleagues. He later died from complications arising from the injury.
The Bauchi State Police Command has reportedly launched a manhunt for the suspect responsible for the attack.
