Nigerian striker David Okereke has been named Serie B’s Goal of the Month for September following his stunning long-range effort in Benevento’s 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona.
The 29-year-old found the net in the 59th minute with the score tied at 1-1, unleashing a powerful right-footed strike from about 30 metres that flew into the top corner beyond goalkeeper Nicola Leali.
The goal marked Okereke’s first in four league appearances for Benevento this season.
He clinched the award ahead of Modena striker Andrea Belotti and Cremonese youngster Adin Ličina.
Okereke joined Benevento on a free transfer in August after leaving Cremonese.
