A fierce blaze engulfs a plastic factory in Lagos.

In the early hours of today, Saturday, September 23, 2023, a plastic company situated in the Ilupeju area of Lagos fell victim to a devastating fire.

A statement issued by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, indicated that LASTMA officials arrived at the scene of the fire incident at approximately 6:30 a.m. They swiftly reached out to other emergency response teams to assist in extinguishing the blaze.

The statement reported:

“Early this morning, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, operatives from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and various emergency responders successfully tackled an industrial fire outbreak at Mega Plastics Company, situated at No.4, Ilupeju Bypass, adjacent to the Federal Inland Revenue Service in the Ilupeju area of Lagos.

Zone 21’s Traffic Officer Ayo Olaosebikan, known as ‘Falcon,’ confirmed that the LASTMA rescue team arrived at the industrial fire scene at around 6:30 a.m., prior to contacting other emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services and the Nigerian Police.”

The cause of the fire outbreak remains unknown at this time, and fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities at the scene of the incident.
