Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City were held to a draw by Bournemouth on Tuesday, May 19.

City needed a victory to cut Arsenal’s lead to two points and keep the title race alive heading into the final day of the season on Sunday.

However, Bournemouth took the lead in the 39th minute through Junior Kroupi, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side chasing the game. Although Erling Haaland scored a stoppage-time equaliser, it was not enough to prevent Arsenal from securing the title.

Arsenal will round off their league campaign against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The triumph marks Arsenal’s 14th English league title, moving them behind only Liverpool and Manchester United, who both have 20. It is also their first league crown since the famous 2003-04 “Invincibles” season under Arsène Wenger, when they went unbeaten throughout the campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s side have finished as runners-up in each of the past three seasons before finally reclaiming the title this year. They have also secured a place in the Champions League final, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain on May 30.
