Former Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has said Kylian Mbappé must secure major trophies with the club and shine on the international stage to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Hazard noted that lifting the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish LaLiga title with Real Madrid, as well as making a deep run with France at the World Cup, would significantly strengthen Mbappé’s chances of claiming the prestigious individual honour.
While outlining the requirements, Hazard expressed confidence that the French star will eventually win the Ballon d’Or, even if it does not happen this year.
“Mbappé and the Ballon d’Or? He will win the Ballon d’Or,” Hazard said. “He needs to win the Champions League, LaLiga, or go far in the World Cup. But he will win a Ballon d’Or at some point, of course.”
Mbappé is yet to claim the Ballon d’Or despite multiple nominations in previous years. However, he has been in impressive form since joining Real Madrid and is widely regarded as one of the leading contenders for the award this season.
The France international has scored 30 goals across all competitions for Los Blancos so far this campaign.
