
A 37-year-old man was reportedly killed by his brothers following a violent dispute over family inheritance in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident took place around 4:50 p.m. on February 11, 2026, at Umunkwo Village, Ula, Ekwulobia.
The victim, identified as Onyedika Okpala, was allegedly attacked with machetes by two of his brothers, Okwudili Okpala and Chigbo Okpala, during a heated argument over property and inheritance rights.
A family source stated that the suspects inflicted severe head injuries on Onyedika, causing heavy bleeding and leaving him unconscious at the scene. His sister reportedly alerted the police, who immediately dispatched operatives to the area. However, the brothers had already fled before authorities arrived.
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Ekwulobia, where a doctor confirmed him dead on arrival. His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy. Investigations are ongoing, and security agencies are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
