An NYSC member, Ibrahim Abdulmumin Adeiza, has reportedly died in Zamfara State just seven days before completing his mandatory one-year national service.

Dr. Adeiza, who was serving at Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, reportedly passed away on May 13, 2026.

According to his friend, Engr. Habibu Nura, the young doctor allegedly slumped around 1:00 p.m. after stepping out with a colleague to purchase a plastic bottle. He was said to have died about an hour later.

Nura revealed that Adeiza had shown no signs of illness prior to the incident, noting that they had been together laughing and chatting barely an hour before his death.

The Information and Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Ministry of Health, Suleiman Isah, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“Zamfara State Government has condoled with the National Youth Service Corps and the family of Dr. Ibrahim Abdulmumin Adeiza, a corps member serving at Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital, who passed away while carrying out his national service duties,” the statement read.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, described the late doctor’s death as a painful loss to the state and the healthcare sector.

She said Dr. Adeiza was dedicated, hardworking, and passionate about saving lives.

Dr. Nafisa also prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, while asking God to give his family, friends, colleagues, and the NYSC community the strength to bear the loss.
