Court Sentences Two Men to Jail for Chicken Theft in Ogun

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State on Monday sentenced two men, Shibu Abdullahi, 21, and Yakubu Usman, 25, to one month in prison each for stealing two chickens valued at N70,000.

Magistrate Mrs. O.O. Fadairo handed down the sentence after the men pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft. Both convicts were given one month in jail, with no option of a fine.

Earlier, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye informed the court that the convicts, along with others still at large, committed the crime on March 30, 2025, around 2:00 a.m. at No. 7 Ibukun Oluwa Street, Itele, Ota.

Adaraloye stated that the men and their accomplices stole two chickens, worth N70,000, from one Bello Kolawole. The charges against them violated Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
