The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Mr. Akeem Yusuf, has issued a directive to intensify security measures throughout the state ahead of the peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. During a monthly conference with senior officers, area commanders, divisional police officers (DPOs), tactical and operational commanders, Mr. Yusuf emphasized the importance of strengthening security to prevent any untoward incidents within their respective areas of responsibility (AOR) during and beyond the festive period.

In line with this directive, all DPOs have been tasked with deploying additional operational assets for confidence-building patrols and crime prevention activities on major highways, residential areas, vulnerable points, places of worship, and other areas of interest. The aim is to ensure a tranquil and trouble-free celebration, while denying space for criminal elements to operate within and around the state.

The Commissioner urged the people of Kogi State to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police in curbing any form of criminality throughout the period. He also extended his congratulations to the Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of the 2023 Eid-El Kabir celebration. Mr. Yusuf reaffirmed the command’s readiness and commitment to collaborating with other security services in ensuring the adequate protection of lives and properties.
