Donald Trump has been inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking his unprecedented return to the White House for a second term after previously serving as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Capitol Rotunda, sheltered from the cold temperatures outside. Trump took the oath of office using Abraham Lincoln’s Bible, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts. “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Trump declared.

Prior to Trump’s swearing-in, JD Vance, who served as the United States Vice President after representing Ohio in the US Senate from 2023 to 2025, took his oath of office.

The event was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including the world’s wealthiest man, Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
