The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned five Nigerians before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that they concealed the whereabouts of former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, who is accused by the agency of masterminding an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu.

The defendants—Reuben Ayuba, Musa Mohammed, Friday Paul, Paganengigha Anagaha, and Ayebaifife Suobite—were charged with conspiracy and allegedly harbouring or concealing the whereabouts of a fugitive.

All five defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice Peter Lifu granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with two sureties in the same amount. However, the court ordered that they be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre until they meet their bail conditions.

The matter was adjourned until July 22, 2026, when trial is expected to commence.
