The Federal Government has granted a significant salary increase ranging from 25% to 35% for civil servants across several consolidated salary structures. This enhancement applies to six remaining consolidated salary structures, namely the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

The announcement, made by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) in a statement released on Tuesday evening, April 30, stated that the increase takes effect from January 1, 2024. Previously, employees in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors had received similar increases, affecting structures such as the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS), Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS), Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS), and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS), among others.

Additionally, the Federal Government has approved pension increases of between 20% and 28% for pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme, in alignment with the six consolidated salary structures, also effective from January 1, 2024.
