The Kano State Police Command has apprehended five suspected thieves and recovered a substantial cache of stolen items, including 996 mobile phones, nine laptop computers, ATM cards, and various accessories.

According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, the arrests and recoveries resulted from a series of incidents. One of the suspects, Ibrahim Adamu, was found guilty of breaking into eleven shops at Dansulaika GSM Market, where he stole mobile phones, desktop and laptop computers, as well as cash. An intelligence-led operation led to Adamu’s arrest at Sallari Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Area, where he confessed to the crimes and aided in the recovery of 106 mobile phones, among other items.

Kiyawa explained that the police initiated the investigation after receiving a public outcry from the coordinators of Dansulaika GSM Market, who reported the thefts from eleven shops on August 24, 2023.

Furthermore, a 19-year-old salesboy named Mujittafa Sale, in collusion with Ahmed Abbati, stole numerous brands of mobile phones and accessories from his employer’s shop. Following Mujjitafa Sale’s confession, three additional suspects were arrested, all of whom were involved in concealing the stolen mobile phones.
