A petrol tanker exploded earlier today, April 12, at the Tollgate area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, destroying properties estimated to be worth millions of naira.

The explosion occurred around 3 p.m. along Lead City University Road, causing extensive damage to nearby businesses and vehicles. Several cars and motorcycles parked in the vicinity were completely razed, with business owners and residents counting heavy losses.

This incident comes barely 24 hours after a devastating fire swept through a local market in Ibadan, destroying goods and properties valued at millions of naira.

Confirming the explosion, the Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Akinyinka Akinyemi, stated that swift intervention by both state and federal fire services helped contain the blaze. However, despite their efforts, significant property damage had already occurred.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
