Galatasaray President: Victor Osimhen’s Contract Has No Release Clause

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s contract with the club does not include a release clause.

Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, completed a permanent move to the Turkish Süper Lig champions this summer, ending his stint with Italian side Napoli. The permanent transfer followed Galatasaray reportedly triggering the €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s Napoli contract.

Addressing speculation that a similar exit clause was part of his new deal with Galatasaray, Özbek clarified that no such provision exists.

“Osimhen’s contract does not have an exit clause. He is extremely successful and will serve Galatasaray for many years,” Özbek stated.

Acknowledging the substantial transfer fee paid to Napoli, he defended the investment: “It may be said that the amount we transferred was high, but today the price of football talent is low compared to the player’s true value.”

Özbek also emphasized the club’s commitment to transparency and compliance, noting, “Every footballer’s contract we sign is fully transparent, in line with the regulations of the TFF [Turkish Football Federation] and UEFA. Our values at Galatasaray and our march to success will continue unchanged.”
