Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has traveled to the United States to attend the wedding ceremony of his nephew, internationally renowned singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
The star couple, Davido and his wife Chioma Avril Rowland, are set to hold their white wedding in Miami, Florida, in August 2025.
Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, made this known in a statement on Tuesday, August 5, following accusations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State that the governor left the state without formally handing over power to his deputy.
“Governor Adeleke departed Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago to attend the wedding of his beloved nephew, the global music icon David Adeleke,” Rasheed said.
He extended an invitation to the opposition party to join the Adeleke family in celebrating the occasion, either in person or virtually.
Rasheed also highlighted that since taking office in November 2022, Governor Adeleke has not taken any official vacation. He assured that this trip would be brief.
“For this current trip, the Governor has again chosen to make it short in order to remain available for crucial state matters,” he added.
He further confirmed that Governor Adeleke remains in constant communication with his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is overseeing government activities in his absence.
