I was sacked as APC national chairman via zoom – Oshiomhole

Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has spoken about how he was removed as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the process that led to his exit was unusual.

Speaking during an interview on AIT, Oshiomhole claimed that he was effectively removed through a virtual meeting held via Zoom at the Aso Rock Villa.

He said his leadership contributed significantly to the 2015 presidential victory of former President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that he also helped stabilise the party during internal disputes affecting the National Assembly.

According to him, after the party had been stabilised, his removal followed shortly.

“I led my party to victory under Buhari. With my colleagues in the National Working Committee (NWC), we resolved the leadership crisis in the Senate and House of Representatives effortlessly,” he said.

“Our president didn’t have to move around the country to campaign or persuade people. We handled the marketing, explanation, and persuasion needed to manage democracy.

“Once the system was stabilised, I was removed through Zoom. When efforts to remove me democratically failed, they claimed that eight members of my ward signed a petition passing a vote of no confidence on me.

“That matter went to court and an interim order was granted. I appealed and the Court of Appeal quashed it, but later restored it. Then, a few days later, I saw a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held via Zoom in the Villa,” he added.

Oshiomhole’s comments come amid ongoing political debates over his tenure and the internal dynamics of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
