Yari made the remarks on Monday, October 19, 2026, during a visit to Kebbi State, where he met with Governor Nasir Idris, traditional rulers and other party leaders in Birnin Kebbi.
He acknowledged the country’s security challenges but maintained that the Tinubu administration was making efforts to address them.
The former governor also cited the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Army general, noting that despite his military background, Buhari was unable to completely eliminate insecurity during his tenure.
“If a retired general did his best but could not completely tackle insecurity, what do you expect of President Tinubu, who is not a general? Nevertheless, the President has done his utmost best to address the security challenges confronting the country,” Yari said.
He maintained that Tinubu was doing his best to tackle the security threats facing the country, suggesting that the challenges could not be attributed to the current president alone.
