The Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor on Digital Media, Kassy Chukwu, has declared that singer Davido is barred from performing in the state following his online clash with Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The controversy began after Okpebholo, while campaigning for the APC candidate ahead of the Osun State governorship election, criticised Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing him as “unserious” and accusing him of focusing mainly on dancing.

Davido took offence at the remarks and responded on social media, mocking Okpebholo by sharing a WAEC result allegedly linked to the governor.

In a recent interview, Davido said he would not apologise to Okpebholo, adding that he felt sorry for the governor’s children because of their father’s public conduct.

Reacting to the dispute, Chukwu released a video criticising Davido for allegedly disrespecting the governor. He claimed the singer had been banned from performing in Edo State for the remaining “six years” of Okpebholo’s anticipated tenure.

Chukwu also alleged that the WAEC result shared by Davido was AI-generated.
