A Kano State High Court has remanded three defendants in a custodial facility over the alleged kidnapping and murder of a young boy in Rano Local Government Area of the state.

The defendants, identified as Hajara Sani, Hayatullah Armayau and Jibin Ado, were arraigned on charges of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and culpable homicide.

They were presented before the court by prosecution counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soran Dinki, alongside Barrister Iliyasu Ibrahim. All three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges after they were read to them.

Following their arraignment, the court ordered their remand and adjourned the case until December 4, 2026, for the commencement of witness hearings.

According to the prosecution, Hajara Sani, who allegedly worked in the deceased boy’s family home, abducted Aliyu Haidar and handed him over to Hayatullah Armayau and Jibin Ado.

The prosecution alleged that the defendants subsequently conspired to demand a ransom of N2 million for the boy’s release.

However, when the ransom was not paid, the defendants allegedly killed the child.

The incident reportedly occurred in Gobirawa village, in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State.
