A Kaduna-based cleric, Reverend Andrew Duniya, his wife, Jemimah Andrew, and their daughter have regained their freedom after spending five months in captivity. However, the family has been struck by tragedy following the death of their son while in captivity.
The family was abducted when bandits invaded Gidan Ali community in Ikulu Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of N270 million for their release.
A journalist confirmed the family’s freedom on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after visiting them at their residence.
The circumstances surrounding their release have yet to be disclosed.
