Man Arrested for Murder of 5-Year-Old Boy in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, in connection with the brutal murder of a five-year-old boy, Abba Bashiru, in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, revealed that the case came to light after the boy’s mother, Hadiza Bashiru, reported her son missing. She informed authorities that her child was last seen in the company of the suspect.

Acting on the report, police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno swiftly apprehended Hassan. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with an accomplice—who is still at large—to kill the child and bury his body in a shallow grave.

“On 30/08/2025, the Adamawa State Police Command received a report from Hadiza Bashiru of Tingno, Lamurde LGA, that her 5-year-old son, Abba Bashiru, was missing and was last seen with one Isiaka Hassan,” the statement read.

“Following this, police operatives led by the DPO of Tingno arrested Isiaka Hassan, who confessed to the crime and to having conspired with another suspect who is currently on the run. The victim’s body was recovered from a shallow grave and taken to a hospital for autopsy.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris Psc(+), has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case and intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served and urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the fight against violent crime across the state.
