Members of the Agbor Gha-Ihun Vigilante Group have paraded a middle-aged man, Mr. Chukwudi Utomi, over his alleged involvement in a series of Point-of-Sale (POS) fraud incidents in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to Ika Newspaper, the suspect—identified as a father of three and a former tipper driver—was arrested in the Ime-Obi area of Agbor on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Utomi, who hails from Oduga Quarters in Akumazi Kingdom, Ika North East LGA, reportedly admitted to the allegations while speaking with journalists, pleading for forgiveness and time to repay the stolen funds. He attributed his actions to losing his driving job and struggling to support his family.

One of the victims, Joy Jacob, said the suspect had been a frequent customer at her POS stand, which allowed him to observe and learn her transaction process. She explained that through repeated visits, he allegedly gained knowledge of her transaction PIN and used it to withdraw money from her account.

She further stated that on the day of his arrest, Utomi allegedly transferred ₦50,000 from her account to one bearing the name Mercy Utomi. After discovering the transaction, she alerted the vigilante group, leading to his arrest. She added that further checks revealed previous unauthorized withdrawals totaling about ₦250,000.

Another POS operator, Joy Ndidi, also accused the suspect of similar fraudulent activities. She claimed to have suffered repeated unexplained losses linked to the same account, with total transactions amounting to about ₦450,000. Ndidi said attempts to seek redress through financial institutions had been unsuccessful, as she was advised to obtain a court order before further action could be taken.
