The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has escalated its crackdown on drug hawkers operating in the Apapa area and its surroundings in Lagos State.
Led by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, the operation is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the unlawful distribution and sale of unauthorized pharmaceuticals.
During the recent operation, numerous drug hawkers were apprehended, and a significant quantity of illicit drugs was confiscated. Among the seized items were aphrodisiacs, narcotic substances such as tramadol, antibiotics, and various over-the-counter medications.
The combined street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Fifty Million Naira.
Individuals implicated in the illegal drug trade will be prosecuted.
Additionally, the confiscated drugs are slated for destruction.
