A statement issued by Femi Babafemi, spokesperson for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), revealed that officers of the agency uncovered 3.60 kilograms of cocaine on October 14, 2025, during an examination of cargo declared as personal effects bound for London, United Kingdom, on an Air Peace flight.
According to the statement, a cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the shipment for airfreight, was immediately arrested. Further investigations, which spanned two weeks, led to the apprehension of two principal suspects connected to the attempt to export the concealed Class A drug to the UK.
In a follow-up operation on October 18, NDLEA operatives arrested Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a female healthcare worker. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, Chief Executive Officer of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co Travel Agency, at his office located at 23 Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, on Monday, October 20.
In a separate development, NDLEA officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, thwarted an attempt by a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, to export 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a diabetes herbal coffee tea pack to the Philippines. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, October 22, after the illicit substance was discovered during routine checks on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
