The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has asserted that no kidnapper or bandit can ambush and harm him. Speaking to journalists in his palace on Wednesday, February 7, the Osun monarch declared that anyone attempting such actions would be challenging the authority he represents.

Expressing concern over the recent killings of three monarchs in Ekiti and Kwara states, Oba Akanbi lamented the disrespect shown to traditional stools by some monarchs.

He stated, “No bandit or kidnapper can attack or ambush me, not on this earth. They can try it, then they want to test the efficacy of the authority that I am representing. Kingship institution is owned by God and I am his representative; you can’t harm me or abduct me. But once kings fail to acknowledge God, there will be problems.”

Asserting his confidence, he emphasized, “There is no kidnapper or bandit who is born that can attack me in such a manner, no war can conquer me.”

He expressed dismay over the challenging times faced by kings in Yoruba land, noting the arbitrary removal of kings and the degradation of their status to mere servants of the government.
