
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 27-year-old woman, Faith Olusesan, in the Funbi Fagun area of Ondo Town, Ondo East Local Government Area.
Reports indicate that unidentified assailants invaded the residence of a serving police officer, DSP Helen Adetowubo, located on Fagun Estate Road 5, and fatally attacked the victim with machetes.
It was gathered that Faith had been making preparations to travel abroad in the coming weeks in search of better opportunities.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and the arrests in a statement issued on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
According to the PPRO, the suspects — Olayode (27), Temitope (32), and Bolaji (22) — were apprehended after the case was reported at the Fagun Division.
“The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adebowale Lawal, Psc(+), mnips, wishes to inform the general public that it has commenced a full-scale investigation into a murder case reported at Fagun Division, Ondo State, on February 5, 2026, and has arrested three suspects in connection with the crime,” the statement read.
“Upon receiving the report, police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of the victim. The body was evacuated and deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that unidentified assailants forcibly gained entry into the compound of one Helen at Fagun Estate Road 5. During the attack, the assailants inflicted fatal machete injuries on Faith, leading to her death.
“Following intensive investigation and coordinated efforts by operatives of the Command, three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident. They are Olayode, 27; Temitope, 32; and Bolaji, 22.
“The suspects are currently in police custody and have provided useful statements aiding the ongoing investigation. They will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has urged residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear. He assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place in the area and across the state to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
“The Command expresses profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his strategic leadership and support. His reforms and technological initiatives have continued to enhance operational efficiency, intelligence-led policing, and overall effectiveness in Ondo State.
