The Borno State Police Command has recovered 912 rounds of ammunition from the Kumshe Jamba Mari area of Maiduguri.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, January 4, 2026, noting that the ammunition has been secured and that investigations are ongoing to determine its source and intended use.

According to the statement, the recovery represents another major operational success under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety across the state.

ASP Daso explained that at about 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2026, the Divisional Police Officer of Lamisula Division, acting on credible intelligence, led a team of operatives to the area, where a concealed cache of ammunition was discovered.

He said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was immediately deployed to the scene in line with standard procedures. The area was secured, and a total of 912 rounds of B32 API (7.62 x 51mm) ammunition were safely recovered.

The police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest those behind the cache, while the recovered items remain in safe custody.

Commending members of the public for providing timely and useful information, CP Abdulmajid reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing. He also urged residents to continue cooperating with the police by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities in their communities.
