President Bola Tinubu has signed the Electoral Act 2026 (Amendment) into law.
The signing ceremony was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja at about 5pm on Wednesday, February 18, in the presence of principal officers of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly had passed the amendment bill a day earlier, on Tuesday, February 17.
Under the new law, the electronic transmission of election results is permitted. However, it also provides that results may be manually collated in any polling unit where there is a network failure.
