President Tinubu dismisses the Director-General of the NBC, CEO of NAN, and other officials from their positions.

President Bola Tinubu has relieved the heads of several government agencies within the Ministry of Information of their duties. This announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media Publicity, Ajuri Ngelali, in a statement issued on Thursday, October 19.

Among those affected by the dismissals are Shehu Illelah, who served as the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), and Buki Ponle, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria.

The following individuals have been appointed as the new heads of these agencies:

  1. National Orientation Agency (NOA) — Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, appointed as Director-General / CEO.
  2. Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) — Dr. Muhammed Bulama, named as the new Director-General / CEO.
  3. Voice of Nigeria (VON) — Mr. Jibrin Baba Ndace, appointed as Director-General / CEO.
  4. Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) — Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, assigned as Director-General / CEO.
  5. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) — Mr. Ali Muhammed Ali, designated as the new Managing Director / CEO.
  6. Nigerian Press Council (NPC) — Mr. Dili Ezughah, appointed as Executive Secretary / CEO.

Notably, the tenure of Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, the Director-General / CEO of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), has been renewed.

The statement released emphasized that the President expects the newly appointed leaders of these crucial sectors to introduce innovative reforms that will provide fresh opportunities for Nigerians. These reforms aim to unify the population, shape mindsets, and present the nation positively on the global stage.
