Speaker and clerk of Niger state assembly test positive for Coronavirus

Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Bawa, and the clerk of the House, Abdullahi Kagara have gone into isolation after testing positive for Coronavirus.

 

Niger’s Commissioner of Information, Muhammed Idris told Channels Television that the Speaker and Clerk’s COVID-19 test results came in on Sunday December 20.

 

This is coming two weeks after the lawmaker representing Gurara Local Government and Chairperson of the House Committee on Gender Affairs, Binta Mamman tested positive for the virus.

 

The entire legislators and staff of the Assembly volunteer be tested for COVID-19 last week. While that of the Speaker and the Clerk came back positive, other results are still being awaited.
