A 70-year-old farmer, identified as Mr. Ngwe Weyi, has been killed in an early morning attack along the Zanhwran-Nkiedonwro Road in Teegbe village, Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, according to a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Miango Youth Development Association (MYDA), Mr. Weyi Agara.
Agara alleged that Weyi was attacked by suspected Fulani militias while on his way to his farm. He reportedly sustained serious injuries and later died from them.
The deceased is survived by his wife and two children, who are now left to cope with the loss of their breadwinner.
The MYDA spokesman described the incident as part of what he called a recurring pattern of violence against members of the Irigwe community. He alleged that the attacks were aimed at displacing residents from their ancestral communities.
Agara urged security agencies and relevant authorities to urgently strengthen security around farming communities and major access routes in the area to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
